If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. - 2 Chronicles 7:14
I find that people who read this verse breeze over it for convenience and as I was reading it, I realized there was a deeper meaning to it. If you read in 1st Chronicles 7, Solomon has just finished a prayer of dedication to God. This was a good time for the nation of Israel because at this time, they were following Gods commands and His statues. They were aligned with the heart of God. It’s interesting to see at the beginning of this chapter, the prescience of the Lord filled the temple and priests could not enter it because the glory of the Lord was so evident. But the verse that stands out to most people is verse 14. Here God give a very clear command. “If my people”…notice He doesn’t say “If the people of Israel” or “If the Jews”. No He says “If MY people which are called by my name (meaning Christians) shall humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” My friends do you not see what is going on here? God literally gives a progression of promises that outweigh what He wants from us. He starts out with humbleness and prayer for the saints and in return He will hear from Heaven, forgive our sins AND heal our land. That is utterly amazing. ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS PRAY TO HIM AND HUMBLE OURSLEVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That just blows my mind that the God of heaven is so merciful and gracious, that all He wants from us is a relationship with Him and a humble heart. My friends, America today has missed its Father. Our churches make up all these things about what we must do in order to gain the acceptance of God. Are you fools? God has already accepted us…He’s waiting for us to accept HIM!!!! But we are so wrapped up in our legalistic ways, that we fail to realize the mercy of God the Father. America must return to it’s core, so many people say that it’s too late. Don’t use that as an excuse to not turn to God and cry out to Him in all things. Our land, belongs to the living God for He is the one who made it. Our possessions belong to the living God because He is the one who gave it. Our lives belong to the living God because He is the One that formed man out of the dust of the ground and breathed life into his nostrils. Everything that we are blessed with, is because at one point, the favor of the Lord shone down upon the United States of America. We have that same opportunity to have His face shine down upon us again if we take the time to pray and believe.
